Immigration law

Handling immigration matters within clear legal frameworks
Residence permits, permanent residence, citizenship or the employment of company employees – our law firm represents clients on these matters on a daily basis. We work with extensive experience across all types of permits: from traditional employment and study applications, through family reunification, to permits issued in the national interest.

Before the immigration authority, precise documentation and exact knowledge of administrative practice are often key. We pay special attention to ensuring that the legal work is not only accurate but also transparent and client-friendly throughout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our office provides comprehensive legal assistance in procedures related to residence permits, settlement permits, citizenship matters, family reunification, and the employment of foreign workers. During case handling, we always seek the legal solution best suited to the given life situation.

Joint work usually begins with a preliminary consultation. During this we review the client's situation, the possible legal solutions, as well as the necessary documents and the expected steps.

After the consultation we define in detail the course of the proceedings, compile the list of necessary documents, then prepare and submit the application to the authority. During the procedure we assist with communication with the authority and in handling requests for additional information or documents.

Yes. If, following the consultation, you commission our office to handle the full residence permit or other immigration procedure, the consultation fee will be credited toward the total engagement fee.

Yes. We also get involved in ongoing matters, for example in requests for additional documents, extensions, status changes or in cases of rejected applications.

Yes. Our office also provides legal support to businesses in permit and immigration matters related to employing foreign workers.

The duration of the procedure depends on the type of permit, the documents submitted and the speed of the authorities' processing. Some cases can be concluded within a few months, while others (such as more complex appeals) may require a longer processing time.

In addition to Hungarian, our office can communicate with clients in English, Polish and Vietnamese.

It depends on the type of application and the workload of the authority, but generally a decision is made within 2–3 months. In certain compassionate situations – for example pregnancy, involvement of a minor child, or urgent family circumstances – the authority may in practice make a decision more quickly.

In some cases an appeal or judicial review may be requested. Our office will examine whether there is a realistic chance of changing the decision.

The adjudication of long-term residence cases depends on the authority's workload, but is generally 3–6 months.

It is not necessary; however, from 2025 it became mandatory for applicants over the age of 18 to take a cultural exam when submitting the application.

The applicant had to have been continuously residing in Hungary for years without interruption, with exceptions defined by law (military service, medical treatment, etc.).

In such cases we, together with our genealogical research partner, obtain the document from an archive or from a foreign authority.

It can occur, yes. But in each case the specific family tree, birthplaces, dates and laws determine it.

For certain procedures, yes; for others, no. We will clarify this exactly at the first consultation.

Yes, depending on the type of application, 6-12 months.
